Save cake for wedding day

Kanye-based Isago Sporting Club annual beauty pageant contestants have been encouraged to be prudent and stay away from any sexual contact before marriage if they want to make it big in life.
Ms Ntebogang Karema said this during the launch of the activity at Saverite Supermarket in Kanye recently.
“At your age, don’t eat your wedding cake before marriage, if you have already cut some piece off it, it’s not late to start a new life,” she said.
Ms Karema, who is also Lobatse tennis club team manager, encouraged the young hopefuls to take advantage of the platform they were given through the initiative and allow themselves to be guided to become responsible, self-respecting individuals.
Ms Karema advised the young women to respect themselves and those around them.
She added that would enhance their worth and make them credible ambassadors of the Isago Sporting brand.
Ms Karema further challenged the young people to join any sport code and keep themselves fit.
That, she added, was good for health.
Meanwhile, former Kanye United Zambian coach, Mike Mwemba, who was part of the launch, encouraged young people to volunteer their services towards the youthful club.
He said the annual beauty pageant would create an impact within the community and also raise funds for the club.
Isago Sporting club general manager, Mr Kaboyarona Segokgo said his team’s vision was to turn young ball players into responsible citizens through sport and enable them to eke out a living through talent.
Mr Segokgo further explained that team supporters came up with the annual initiative to help raise funds.
He said the team was sponsored by Sedibeng Lodge.
He shared that the team, which was formed last year, has two under 20 players booked for trials in South Africa, and that the other three were due to try their luck with the newly promoted Sharps Electrical FC.
Mr Segokgo argued that much as the club wants to grow and get promoted to the elite league, they also want to open channels for players who want greener pastures rather than standing on their way.
Mr Segokgo has also challenged parents of talented players who were not that endowed in academics to support and encourage them to hone their talent.
He said a lot of talent goes to waste due to lack of support from some parents.
Mr Segokgo has also advised clubs to register as companies as opposed to societies to enable them to work and do business with any entity.
He explained that soccer clubs, registered as societies were limited.
A fashion show on August 26 at Motse Lodge will give a glimpse of what to expect during the final scheduled for October 28 at Lodubeng Park in Kanye.
Proceeds from the event will be channeled towards the team. The winner will walk away with a bed, mini-fridge and mini-television for second and third position respectively. BOPA
