The design and construction of the Sorilatholo water treatment plant at Sorilatholo was completed and handed over in April 2015. Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi said his ministry was aware that the plant had operational challenges since its commissioning, and that effective  June 2017 it experienced a major breakdown.

Mr Moipisi said quotations for repairing the plant had since been received, and that repair works would commence before the end of August 2017.

He said the plant was expected to be operational by mid-September 2017.

The assistant minister said over and above the challenges regarding the maintenance of the Sorilatholo plant was the limited parts suppliers in Botswana. He said the delay in attending to the plant breakdown was, therefore, due to the supplier being available only in July to do the assessment and quotation for the repair works.

MP Ngaka Ngaka of Takatokwane had asked the minister when the construction of the water treatment plant at Sorilatholo would be complete. He had also requested the minister to state the cause of delay regarding the construction.ENDS
