Ministry unaware of overtime claims
13 Aug 2017
Ministry of Basic Education is not aware of any officers and/or teachers who are owed overtime allowance for as far back as 2015 in Boteti East schools.
Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya said, however, that the ministry was aware that some teachers claim to have worked overtime when they had not been authorised to do so.
MP Sethomo Lelatisitswe of Boteti East had asked if it was true that there were officers/teachers owed overtime allowances from as far as 2015 in the Boteti East constituency schools.
He wanted to know the number of schools concerned, the number of officers affected and what activities they were assigned that resulted in overtime demands, and why they were not paid on time as well as the waiting period for overtime payment in the ministry.
Mr Lelatisitswe also wanted to know when the affected officers would be paid. ENDS
