10 Aug 2017

Letlhakane Senior Secondary School has requested for boarding assistants for both boys and girls hostels, Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya, has said.

Responding to a question in parliament from Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, Mr Goya said the last request was made on July 25 and it was received by the director for regional operations, Central Region.

“Approval was given on July 26 for the 21 boarding assistants as requested. These were approved for the period from August 1 to December 1, 2017,” he added.

Assistant Minister also clarified that boarding assistants were teachers who were in the establishment and in boarding schools.

These assistants, he said were engaged for a specified period to support learners in boarding schools.

Mr Lelatisitswe wanted to know if it was true that Letlhakane Secondary School had requested for boarding assistants for both boys and girls hostels from the regional office.

Additionally, Boteti East MP also wanted to know when the school made the request and who received it, what action had been taken on the request to date, whether it was necessary to have boarding assistants and when  they would be hired. ENDS
