Expansion of Mmathethe Sebego clinics planned for 201819

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Phillip Makgalemele has told Parliament that expansion of Mmathethe and Sebego clinics is planned for the 2018/19 financial year.

Mr Makgalemele explained that the expansion/extension of Mmathethe Maternity wing would increase maternity space in the facility as the current maternity has three post-natal and two delivery beds with an average of 10 deliveries per month as well as  improved access of the following health services, such as, maternity, sexual and reproductive health services, general out-patient, Anti-Retroviral Therapy, child welfare clinic andy outh friends clinic.

The expansion of the facility according to Mr Makgalemele would  increase the number of rooms  to cater for new functions like reception, waiting area, admission room, Labour room, antenatal care, administration area, laundry and a minor theatre.

Moreover, Mr Makgalemele said the new facility would cater for more than 30 delivers in a month.

As for Sebego clinic which currently caters for more than 2 600 patients in a month, having one consultation room, one dispensary room, one injection room, Mr Makgalemele said the expansion would see the clinic attending to more patients.

MP Abram Kesupile had asked  the minister to state a time bound schedule for the expansion/extension work to Mmathethe and Sebego clinics in the Southern District, the volume of patients that each clinic will now be able to handle and the services that would come with the improvements. ENDS
