Letlhakane has no Setswana senior teacher position

09 Aug 2017

Parliament has been informed that Letlhakane Senior Secondary School has no position of senior teacher 1 (ST1) Setswana.

Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow said the ministry used the Oracle system as a database system that enabled it to manage its human resource personnel.

She said since the Oracle system was accessible at all levels, her ministry has been aware that there was no position of Setswana teacher 1 at Letlhakane senior since 2014, and that no studies had been affected.

She said the school,  like others, required some additional positions due to their expansion, which needed to be created, saying her ministry continues to assist.

MP for Boteti East, Mr Setlhomo Lelatisitswe had wanted to know whether it was true that the post of Setswana senior teacher 1 had remained vacant at Letlhakane Senior Secondary School since 2014.

He also wanted to know why it had taken a long time for the position to be filled, and whether it was true that the problem was created by the Oracle system.

He also wanted to know the dates in which the matter was reported to the regional office, and from the regional office to the ministry.

MP Lelatisitswe further wanted to know when the position would be filled and whether the delay had an impact in the Setswana subject at the school. ENDS
