New Molepolole AFM church landmark feature
08 Aug 2017
The new Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church is projected to be an architectural marvel that will turn out to be a landmark feature in Molepolole.
The new building, which is said to have a capacity of about 3 000 people, will not only serve the AFM members, but will also be made available to the community for certain events.
This was revealed at the ground breaking ceremony held at AFM church in Molepolole recently.
Officiating at the event, AFM Botswana president, Pastor Jobe Koosimile encouraged AFM brethren to remember that as they begin the construction of the building, they should not forget that the church’s main obligation was to preach the word of God.
“Our mission is to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said.
He mentioned that as a national church, they should remember that everything they do should reflect who they are, citing that all their programmes should be geared towards reaching out to the masses.
Pastor Koosimile also explained what the church is and its role in the society.
He mentioned that since the church was a holy place, AFM members should build the new church with that in mind and exercise due diligence.
From a different perspective, he emphasised the need for members to not derail from doing good, challenging them to welcome all who want to encounter God and that as they meet God, their lives should be changed and have an impact in all areas of their lives.
He further reminded them that since they were building a worshipping centre, they should know that the temple of God was not a place where they pass time or entertain themselves, but rather a place of worship where fellow brethren could build one another and receive counsel, for ‘God is looking for worshipers who worship in truth and in spirit’.
Giving the project background, Molepolole senior pastor, Pastor Ephraim Semathane said although they had a vision to expand the church, it took 12 years to actually start the project due to various challenges.
He said one of major problems was that the type of soil where the church was to be built was not suitable and as a result, they had to carry out extensive soil tests, which came at a huge cost.
Again, he mentioned that the reason why they wanted to build a new church was that they experienced over flow and that led to the church losing members because most of the time the congregants would attend church outside the building.
He said for the same reason, they did not share the building with the Sunday school because the space was too small.
Pastor Semathane further said the new church would be open to the community at large to use it for various events at a fee. ENDS
