07 Aug 2017
Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Patrick Ralotsia says the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) rapid diagnostic test is being developed by Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI).
Mr Ralotsia told Parliament recently responding to a question from Chobe’s MP Machana Shamukuni.
He further said the kit had been launched and that it would have to undergo rigorous validation, proficiency testing and accreditation before it can be approved in accordance with international protocols.
Mr Ralotsia said once it met such approval, it would then be adopted accordingly.
Mr Shamukuni had asked the minister to give an update on progress made regarding the development of the Foot and Mouth Disease rapid diagnostic test. ENDS
