Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Kenneth Matambo has informed Parliament that efforts continue to be made to avail relevant and timely information in the required format and disaggregation for planning purposes at all levels.

To this end, Minister Matambo said, key efforts towards enhancing the availability of data and information at local level is been rolled  out by Statistics Botswana for the development of statistics.

He said the strategy sought to promote data collection and production of statistical reports, following internationally approved methods and standards.

Minister Matambo further said new surveys that would provide some of the data and information at local level include the Botswana Demographic Survey, Multi-Topic Survey and the Botswana AIDS Impact Survey.

Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo had asked the minister to state what the ministry’s efforts towards mitigating the challenge of lack of data and information that had been collected in a consistent and systematic way. ENDS
