Rapid FMD test on cards

Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI), which is under the Ministry of Tertiary Education Research, Science and Technology, is developing a Foot and Mouth Disease rapid diagnostic test.
“The kit has been launched and it will have to undergo rigorous validation, proficiency testing and accreditation before it can be approved in accordance with international protocols,” Dr Alfred Madigele informed Parliament recently.
He said the test would be adopted once tested.
He was responding to a question from Chobe MP, Mr Machana Shamukuni.
MP Shamukuni had asked the minister to give update on progress made in the development of the FMD rapid diagnostic test. ENDS
