03 Aug 2017

Selebi Phikwe Economic Diversification Unit (SPEDU) in collaboration with Selebi Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) have joined efforts in reviving the Selebi Phikwe Trade and Exhibition Show (STES) scheduled for 7 – 12 August 2017 at Selebi Phikwe showground.

The chairperson of the show, Ms Sandra Hughes said  the town could not sustain the show and that it eventually collapsed in 2003.

She said SPEDU and SPTC have taken the lead in facilitating the execution of the show. She also noted that Selebi Phikwe was currently under a revitalisation strategy that seeks to resuscitate the economy of the town post the closure of the BCL mine.

She added that the show formed part of the strategies employed to promote regional economic activities and various products and services from the SPEDU region. She added that the Selebi Phikwe Trade and Exhibition Show complemented  the three main shows from the region: Tswapong North; Bobonong and Mmadinare under the theme: Economic revitalisation through diversification.

“The show seeks to attract exhibitors from all sectors of the economy, both regionally and nationally,” she added.

The diversity of the sectors at the show are expected to attract revellers from diverse fields, backgrounds and age categories.

She noted that stalls for corporates and companies cost P1 000, and that for government departments it was P750, SMMEs P250. She said a dinner ticket goes for P100 and that entrance fees on the 10th August was P10, and that the 11 and 12 August entrance would be P20.

Activities of the day include face painting, potjie competition, Lunar Park, jumping castle, quad bikes, Five A side and Pop up Gym. ENDS
