The annual Gaborone City Mayor’s marathon has acquired another sponsor after the Choppies group of companies joined the fray.

Speaking during a press conference to launch Jack’s Gym sponsorship for the marathon, city mayor, Kagiso Thutlwe said the marathon was all about fitness, health and living a positive lifestyle.

He highlighted that Jack’s Gym would assist with the preparations, advice and information distribution for the marathon.

“We all know the passion that Jagdish Shah has for sports in Botswana and this was one of his gestures towards this initiative,” he said.

The mayor also called on all Batswana to support the marathon so that they could host a successful event.

Jack’s Gym, chief executive officer, Shah said running was the best exercise when one wanted to achieve a lean body mass and zero per cent fat.

“You don’t need to use dumpbells, just keep running you will achieve a lean body mass and zero fat,” he advised.

Shah said he was happy with the mayor’s initiative as the marathon was helping Jack’s Gym’s original initiative of health and fitness.

He said he believed the marathon would open doors for more tracks and more running areas.

He further said all those who had registered for the marathon would have an opportunity to utilise all the Jack’s Gym branches for free.

“I call upon all those who will be taking part in the marathon to come to us for any kind of help, advice, guidance and training, we have availed all our gyms and facilities for the marathon, but there has to be bookings before,” he said.

Shah further said Jack’s Gym was equally concerned with the well being and wellness of Batswana. ENDS
