EVM receives mixed feelings

Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe has told Parliament that the outcome of consultative meetings conducted by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on the introduction of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was that it was received with mixed feelings.
He said in 32 constituencies the reforms were embraced albeit with some dissenting voices.
In 23 constituencies the introduction of EVM was not welcomed,” he said.
He said in these meetings, some voices of support were registered. Mr Kwerepe said in two constituencies there was a tie.
The MP for Gaborone Central, Dr Phenyo Butale had asked the minister to update Parliament on the outcome of consultative meetings conducted by IEC on EVM. He also asked him to state the numbers and names of constituencies that expressed support for the introduction of EVM. ENDS
