US Ambassador to Botswana, Mr Earl Miller has praised the Queen Esther Organisation for the Lead Girl project aimed at inspiring and empowering the girl child.

“I am glad to be here to see the first-hand impact of Queen Esther’s dedicated work with the young women of Chanoga and other villages,” said Mr Miller when addressing attendees at the Lead Girl project celebration in Chanoga last Thursday.

He noted that the organisation has been able to produce empowered, strong and well balanced young women through its hard work and training.

Queen Esther, as one of the US Embassy’s recipients of the PEPFAR grant, has been selected to receive funding for the continuance of the project for another year.

Ambassador Miller said the goal of the grants was to make a direct and positive impact for beneficiaries at the grassroots level which was achieved by the Lead Girl project.

He thanked stakeholders and community leaders for their partnership and support for the project. He encouraged young girls to go after their dreams.

A Lead Girl member, 16-year-old Ms Mpho Ramaselwane also advised her fellow members to have direction in every step that they took so that they did not lose their way.

“I have learnt that we are born for a reason and also came to know that we have to do the right things at the right place, with the right person and at the right time. Keep on learning,” she said.

Ms Ramaselwane thanked the organisation for recommending a mentor who inspired her to work hard to realise her dreams.

She advised the young girls not to give up since they could do a lot more with their lives and encouraged them not to listen to any demeaning comments about them. ENDS
