Ministry to consider additional vehicles - Makgalemele
30 Jul 2017
Ministry of Health and Wellness will consider requesting additional vehicles for Mahalapye District Hospital in the 2017/18 financial year.
Health and wellness assistant minister, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele told Parliament that the ministry was aware of shortage of transport in the health sector in all the District Health Management Teams, including Mahalapye District Hospital.
He noted that there were 18 functional vehicles out of a fleet of 45 at Mahalapye DHMT while 27 were off-road vehicles awaiting repairs.
He added that the 42 boarded vehicles transferred from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development had not been able to replace them due to budgetary constraints.
The MP fo Mahalapye West, Mr Joseph Molefe had wanted to know the number of vehicles at Mahalapye DHMT against the establishment, the number of those that were boarded and transferred to the ministry.
He also wanted to know when Mahalapye DHMT would be issued additional vehicles to avoid vehicle cluster by location in the district. ENDS
