No plans to electrify Makalamabedi fence
30 Jul 2017
There are no plans to electrify Makalamabedi fence as the “elephant challenge along the fence is minimal,” says Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Patrick Ralotsia.
The minister explained that the fence was part of the national disease control fences that were periodically fixed. He said there was a fence maintenance team permanently placed at Makalamabedi quarantine and Phefodiafoka camps that frequently patrolled and repaired damages on the fence.
However, he said the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism was currently realigning the Makgadikgadi fence, and that the project involved the electrification of the new fence.
Specially Elected MP, Ms Bogolo Kenewendo had asked the minister to state when the Makalamabedi Veterinary Fence would be fixed and electrified. ENDS
