Residents of Ghanzi have embraced the idea of a meat festival, which will be held on June 27 at The Gat in Ghanzi.

One of the residents, Lovely Bahenyi who attended the launch appreciated the idea saying it would give people an opportunity to taste different kinds of meat, not just beef.

He also noted that the concept of a meat festival would attract investors to Ghanzi and in the end put the township on the map as a tourism destination. Bahenyi urged youths to come up with day activities as a build up to such events to attract people as well as promote Ghanzi as a tourism spot.

Daniel Dilampi said the event came at the right time. He said since people take farming for granted, therefore this event would shed light on the importance of farming as it was expected that people would be in farming gear.     

 According to one of the organisers Kamogelo Radipati, the event would seek to celebrate Ghanzi as a meat hub and appreciate the place as an area with high livestock and game population. She said this festival also promoted tourism and it was going to benefit the locals in many ways.

 She said to spice up the festival, they would have a line-up of artists comprising Culture Spears, Charmer Girl as well as Gong Master with DJ Sly of RB2 and Boggy Sid. ENDS
