Ministry aware of doctors shortage

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is aware of the shortage of doctors across all District Health Management Teams (DHMTs).
Assistant minister, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said he was also aware of the shortage of doctors at Mahalapye District Hospital.
He said there were 12 medical doctors at Mahalapye District Hospital against an establishment of 14.
He said additional orthopedic surgeons would be posted to Mahalapye District Hospital during this financial year.
“My ministry is continuing with local and external recruitment and available doctors will be posted in line with national public health priorities,” Mr Makgalemele said.
Mahalapye West MP, Mr Joseph Molefe had asked if the ministry was aware of the shortage of doctors at Mahalapye District Hospital. ENDS
