No foreign interference in elections

Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale, says he is not aware of any foreign interference in Botswana’s elections.
Responding to a question in Parliament from Nata/Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga, Mr Molale said what he knew was that elections were administered by the Independent Electoral Commission in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, Cap. 02:09 of the Laws of Botswana.
“Standing Order 38.1 (i) prohibits a member from asking a question the purpose of which is to obtain another member’s opinion, the solution of an abstract case or the answer to a hypothetical proposition. Therefore, I feel constrained to answer this hypothetical question,” he said.
Mr Majaga had asked Mr Molale if there was any foreign interference in Botswana’s elections and if there were any foreign political parties that were sponsoring local politicians. ENDS
