Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi has told Parliament that 13 vehicles from freight companies have been caught transporting illegal substances since 2001.
Mr Kgathi said the substances included tobacco products, dagga and elephant tusks.
The minister said in all cases, the involvement of these freight companies in question could not be established, but that the 12 drivers were charged and cases disposed off, safe for one who turned state witness after he assisted in the controlled delivery of goods.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister how many vehicles from freight companies were caught while transporting illegal substances since 2001, and what actions had been taken against the companies. ENDS
