Botswana Brigade Sporting Association (BOBSA) has hosted a three-day national brigade games in Molepolole with athletes giving their best.

The association’s public relations officer, Ofentse Modise said the games were successful from preparation till the end.

He said the results ensured the growth of brigade’s games to be taken seriously in terms of development of sports and athletes in the country.

He added that officiating during the games was excellent and delivered as expected because they enlisted officials of note in the games.

In football, Tswa Bokone won the women’s cup whilst Kweneng brigade beat Ghanzi to clain gold. In volleyball, Chobe District based Nghetto brigade won gold with Tswelelopele brigade winning gold in the women category.

In chess, the women championships were won by Madiba, Serowe and Ghanzi brigades respectively whilst Ghanzi, Madiba and Bobonong were winners in the men’s category.

The games also had codes such as table tennis and badminton for singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

The associations vice secretary, Bogha Maposa who conferred netballers winners with medals, encouraged players to put extra hard work and continuous training, and not just to rely on school games if they want to make careers in sports.

“You never know where your career will take you, so don’t just rely on your school games, train hard. Join home teams to horn your skill if you want to be counted among the best, and that surely will help take sports to new heights,” he said.

He further said athletes did not come to the finals by chance, but because they were deserving to be part of the over 450 participants from 35 brigades across the nation.

Individual performance was also rewarded for both coaches and athletes. ENDS
