Sankoyo Tshwaragano Development Trust has come to the rescue of Sankoyo Bush Bucks with an injection of P590 000 for the 2017/18 season.
The trust will also assist in the operation of the club.
The money will be used for the general running expenses of the club while the trust will also take care of the club’s transportation expenses during away and home games.
The trust has also appointed its accountant to work with the club for prudent financial management and record keeping.
Club chairperson, Itumeleng Kelebetseng confirmed that they received a letter from the trust showing interest to help in the operation of the team. He said they shared the good news with the membership who approved the assistance.
However, Kelebetseng was quick to point out that the assistance from the trust was not a sponsor, and that companies willing to sponsor the club were welcomed. He added that the trust offered the assistance as it was aware of their financial woes.
“It really means a lot to us and it means we will be working hand-in-hand with the trust, as it has proved to be our pillar of strength since the club’s birth,” said Kelebetseng, adding that they had always relied heavily on financial assistance from the village trust, and that they had come to the rescue of the team on previous occassions.
He commended the trust for being the backbone of the team and assured the management of the trust that they would treat them as partners in taking the club to greater heights.
Kelebetseng said the money would assist in the registration of new players and buying a new kit. He also noted that the trust has provided them with an office, and that in return, the trust would brand its logo on club merchandise.
Asked about the issue of a business wing, which is one of the club licensing requirements, he said the issue was discussed at the general meeting and that the gathering assigned management to come up with different models for discussion. He added that they would present the models and see which was the best to use.
He emphasised that the club had already done a lot of things as far as club licensing was concerned.
For his part, the trust chairperson, Nkgololang Samakata revealed that the assistance does not restrict any potential sponsor to the club, as the money was just for the club to start the new season in a better foundation.
He added that the assistance was not adequate as the club required P2.4 million annually, but that it would make a difference in the running of the club.
Meanwhile, Ngurungu supporters have elected a new executive committee and Kelebetseng has retained his position as chairperson. He is deputised by Kebaabetswe Samakata while Kago Tango is the new secretary and Kelaotswe Kelaotswe his vice.
Public relation officer, Baganetsi Kamanakao defended his position and Onalethata Samasasa was elected the new treasurer and four new members were elected as additional members. BOPA
