Oldies chase soccer ball for good cause

The organiser of the Barolong oldies tournament, Kabo Mokone says the event is for former players aged 35 years and above.
Speaking during tournament an interview, Mokone said the tournament would help the former players to exercise, entertain themselves and to interact for the development of the sub-district.
He said it would also help them to take part in social activities and responsibilities, as each team contributed P250 to the hosting team, and that the would be used to help the community in that area by donating it to the school or independence committee.
He added that although their tournament had no prizes, it was still intense and competetive because bragging rights were at stake.
He said the tournament would be held annually in different villages of Barolong to build relationships. He added that they hope to see the tournament grow bigger and better with every passing year.
The three teams that competed in the inaugural tournament were from Ditlharapa, Mokatako and Hebron. Mokatako emerged champions with four points followed by Hebron and Ditlharapa respectively. BOPA
