19 Jul 2017

Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale has appealed to residents of Good Hope Sub-district to be cooperative and unite for the economic development of their district.

Minister Molale said this at Logagane in the Good Hope Sub-district council at the handover ceremony of 26 destitute and RADP houses.

Minister Molale said respect for one another, unity and team work were necessary if residents wished to see their district develop economically.

Mr Molale also urged residents to utilise government programmes to improve their livelihoods.

He noted that the construction of the houses in the district empowered local businesses and builders in the district. He added that it allowed them to participate in the economic development of their district.

Handing over one of the houses in Logagane, Mr Molale noted that shelter was one of the three basic needs of a human being.

He said as part of implementing Vision 2036 pillars, government aimed at achieving prosperity for every Motswana by ensuring that needy people had shelter. He added that government believed that to develop a human being, one had to start by providing shelter as a basic need.

After handing the house in Logagane, Mr Molale proceeded to Kgoro where he also handed over a house under the Presidential Housing Appeal.

Mr Molale noted that the construction of the house came about after President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama embarked on a walkabout in the village. He said the recipient of the house, Ms Mosetsanagape Mapogo was staying in a tent after her house was destroyed by floods earlier this year.

Mr Molale noted that meeting basic needs, one of which was shelter, restored the dignity and worth of an individual and enabled them to take their place in society.

Meanwhile, Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Mr Mephato Reatile launched the Good Hope Sub-district council newsletter in Logagane.

Mr Reatile said the newsletter was aligned with the Vision 2036 sustainable development goals of inclusiveness.

He encouraged residents to make use of the newsletter, saying it would communicate vital information on government’s initiatives and programmes as well as service delivery.

He said the newsletter was intended to engage residents of the district so that they could appreciate challenges and successes in the public service.

He said it would also indicate where residents could be of assistance by playing a role in improving service delivery in their district. BOPA
