INF chief gives Botswana thumbs up

Botswana has been rated top in hosting the 2017 Netball Youth World Cup competitions.

Speaking at the just ended  NWYC tournament media brief International Netball Federation (INF) president, Molly Rhone said she rated Botswana nine out of 10 in overall.

She mentioned that Botswana had done a great job not just in hosting but also in team’s impressive performance during the tournament.

Rhone said she was impressed by how the host country prepared and delivered the tournament.

“Four years ago we awarded the championships to Botswana, who ever thought we would have been here and witnessing such a wonderful event,” she added.

The nation’s reception, she said was also overwhelming stating that she was pleased by kindliness of Batswana. Rhode mentioned that she was thrilled by commitment shown by Botswana Netball Association (BONA) and Botswana

National Sport Council (BNSC) towards the tournament. Since the beginning of the tournament, she said INF had not encountered any hiccups.

Rhodes said NWYC 2017 tournament was the first event INF was broadcasting games live stating that the broadcast was magnificent.

She said netball had in overall grown tremendously including membership and quality of play.

“When you look at Botswana it has gone to higher grades in their play,” she said.vWhen addressing Team Botswana issue for not being in the top 8, Rhode said the decision was governed by INF laws and regulations on netball.

“When you host, you sign all documentation and all countries and teams partaking in the competitions should know and abide by the rules,” she said.

When questioned about the rule that determined Botswana not going through to top 8, BONA president, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego challenged media personnel to update themselves with all netball rules and regulations since they were available in websites. BOPA
