Kgathi dismisses lack of uniform claims
12 Jul 2017
The minister of Defence, Justice and Security Mr Shaw Kgathi has dismissed claims that there are police officers in Boteti East Constituency who were not supplied with uniform.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, the minister explained that police uniform was issued to every police officer irrespective of where they were.
“The standard policy regarding uniform is that as and when a police officer expresses the need for new or replacement uniform, he/she is issued with such immediately,” Mr Kgathi said.
He said there is sufficient uniform in store to address any need for uniform by police officers across the country.
Boteti East MP Mr Lelatisitswe Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked whether it was true that there were police officers in the constituency who were never supplied with uniform since they started working.
He also wanted to know what prevented the issuing of uniform to those officers and when they would receive it. ENDs
