Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele says he is aware that there is a shortage of accommodation for health services employees in the Jwaneng/Mabutsane constituency, and that most of the employees shared accommodation.
He noted that the situation was countrywide and that it compelled most officers to lodge in shared accommodation.
Mr Makgalemele said Jwaneng and Mabutsane District Health Management teams had a staff complement of 371.
He added that in Jwaneng 45 staff members were accommodated on sharing basis in 24 institutional houses while 19 officers were accommodated in 10 houses belonging to Jwaneng Town Council. He added that in Mabutsane 40 staff members were accommodated in 33 institutional houses.
Mr Makgalemele stated that the number of houses required to alleviate the problem was 101.
To address the challenge, the assistant minister said that the ministry would construct 35 houses through ESP and NDP 11. ENDS
