Supang school facilities near completion

Construction of 10 teachers' houses and six classroom blocks at Supang Primary School in Letlhakane under the Economic Stimulus Programme will be completed next month.Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans van     der Westhuizen said the project, which commenced during the 2016/17 financial year, experienced a delay due to rock excavation on the site.“Progress is at 90 per cent for classrooms and 70 per cent for teachers' houses and the project is expected to be completed by end of August,” Mr van der Westhuizen briefed Parliament recently.

 

The assistant minister explained that the project would cost P18.65 million. Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked to be apprised on ESP and National Development Plan (NDP) 11 projects that would be carried out in his constituency.

Mr van der Westhuizen further told the MP that a customary court was completed at Mmea at a cost of P1.08 million during the 2016/17 financial year.

 

“Under the destitute housing programme, 15 housing units were constructed in Boteti East in 2016/17 at a cost of 1.65 million and all of them have been handed over to beneficiaries,” he added.

He said ESP projects for the 2017/18 financial year in Boteti East constituency included construction of four teachers' houses, one block of toilets and two classroom blocks for Mokane Primary School in Letlhakane. 

 

Mr van der Westhuizen said the project would commence next month. He also said 22 destitute housing units would be provided in various villages and settlements this financial year at a cost of P2.027 million. ENDS
