10 Jul 2017
Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) has funded the launching of a website named What’s on Bots.com at the tune of over P377 000.
Speaking at the launch of the website in Gaborone on Friday, copyright specialist at CIPA, Ms Tshepo Raditloaneng said the launch marked another milestone in the plan to develop and enhance the creative industry through the levy on Technical Devices Fund.
Ms Raditloaneng noted that the levy on Technical Devices Fund was established to develop, enhance and promote the creative industry, adding that the objective could only be achieved through the dedication and determination of individuals who strived to make a difference and contribute to the growth of the creative industry.
She said the aim of establishing the website was to provide easy access to events information in a platform that was simple, affordable yet highly effective for use by events organisers and promoters.
“It is my believe that What’s on Bots.com is one such project which will have an impact aligned with the desires of CIPA of developing the creative industry,” she said.
She said in the era where technology evolved fast, they do not have an option but to move with the times and make use of the convenience that technology brings in order to achieve their developmental goals.
Ms Raditloaneng said CIPA was committed to continue providing more funding through the levy on Technical Devices Fund as the creative industry was an industry with the potential to diversify the economy.
Whats on Bots.com project coordinator, Ms Tlotlo Moagi said it was an events promotion website that was being funded by CIPA under the levy on Technical Devices Fund, and that its main objective was to provide a simple but effective means of promoting events for organisers and promoters, to provide an affordable and easily accessible means of events listing for the public.
She said in the website there would be a section for promoters and organisers to place information of the events that they were organising or promoting.
She added that events attendees would, on the other hand, have options on the other side.
She noted that the website would show different events going on every weekend, and that it would boost the audience to attend different events. ENDS
