Ministry monitors staffing levels - Tshireletso
09 Jul 2017
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has informed Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that the ministry continues to monitor staffing levels of drivers and the number of vehicles allocated to customary courts across all districts.
She noted that in some cases court bailiffs were issued with CTO licences.
Kgosi Thabo Masunga had asked the assistant ministry to explain when the 12 dikgotla that were provided with new vehicles would have drivers.
Ms Tshireletso also said she was aware of the salary gap in the bogosi structure of moemela kgosi yo mogolwane and moemela kgosi. She said the recent salary upgrading was an assimilation exercise, and not for purposes of closing the gaps.
She said the profiling and grading of positions determined the salary scale as decided by government. She added that the current state would prevail as there had been no change since the last profiling.
Kgosi Oleyo Ledimo of Maun region had asked the minister to explain why the salary gaps between the two were not closed in the recent salary adjustments as it had been a concern for a long time.
Kgosi Ledimo also wanted the minister to explain what necessitated the gaps.
Ms Tshireletso informed the house that it was government’s policy that all public officers, including dikgosi must have name tags.
She said she was aware that few dikgosi do not have them, but noted that most dikgosi have name tags. She said the ministry would make available name tags for all the remaining dikgosi soon.
Kgosi Kgosidialwa Moalosi of Tonota region had asked why all dikgosi were not provided with name tags for the purpose of easy identification by the community.
Ntlo Ya Dikgosi was also informed that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development did not have plans to construct an administration block for both Nyamambisi and Lepashe primary schools as priority had been given to the provision of teachers’ houses, classrooms and toilets during NDP 11.
Kgosi Rapelang Khuwe of Tutume region had asked Ms Tshireletso to state when administration blocks would be built in Nyamambisi and Lepashe primary schools as they currently use one-roomed offices since inception of schools in 1960 and 1982 respectively. ENDS
