Various health sector developmental projects attached to the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) and the eleventh National Development Plan (NDP 11) are taking place in the Boteti East constituency.
Answering a question in parliament on July 5, the Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Philip Makgalemele said the projects were ongoing in the villages of Letlhakane, Makalamabedi, Mokubilo and Mmatshumo.
“The ESP and NDP 11 projects for Boteti East include the upgrading of Letlhakane Primary Hospital to a 70 bedded hospital and the construction of a new clinic at Makalamabedi with four staff houses,” Mr Makgalemele said. He further said staff houses were to be constructed at Letlhakane clinic, Mokubilo health post and Mmatshumu health post. Mr Makgalemele said these staff houses were a spillover from NDP 10.
“Letlhakane Primary Hospital upgrading is budgeted at P66 million during NDP 11 and is planned to commence during the 2018-19 financial year, funds permitting. Construction of the new clinic at Makalamabedi is budgeted at P33 million for commencement during the 2018-19 financial year,” Mr Makgalemele said.
He also said the Letlhakane Primary Hospital and Makalamabedi clinic upgrading is scheduled to commence during the 2018-19 financial year, with Letlhakane due for completion within 24-30 months, and Makalamabedi within 12-18 months.
Mr Makgalemele further said the construction of the staff houses for the clinics were estimated at P5 million and were planned to commence during the 2016-17 financial year for completion within six to 12 months.
The minister revealed this in response to a question from Boteti East Member of Parliament, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe who had asked the minister to appraise Parliament of the projects in the ministry under the ESP and NDP 11 that are to be carried out in the Boteti East villages. Mr Lelatisitswe had wanted the minister to provide a brief description of the project scope; budget attached timelines and current progress. ENDS
