Junior Chamber International (JCI) Palapye Chapter members have been implored to make a positive impact on the community.

Addressing members during a meeting held on June 22 in Palapye JCI vice president, Mr Tumelo Masalila said members should come up with sustainable projects that will impact positively on Palapye community.

“We do not want members who sit back and do nothing,” he said.

Mr Masalila further urged members to interact with local authorities and other stakeholders and bring them on board for the success of community projects, adding that success will be measured about how best members fulfill JCI mission.

In addition, he implored the chapter’s management to hold effective meetings and deliver on their plan.

Mr Masalila said JCI is an organisation whose mandate is to make a positive impact on the community therefore its members should be actively involved in community projects.

The organisation, he said has formed a partnership with United Nations, as such has been advancing on millennium development goals (MDGs).

He said it is important for the chapter members to familiarise themselves with these so that they propose projects in line with MDGs.

For her part, JCI executive director, Ms Ngwatsi Enyatseng urged members to increase membership by empowering young people to take ownership of their communities.

Ms Enyatseng implored members to form partnerships with organisations in Palapye.

She said JCI is not a profit making organisation and has insufficient funds to run some projects on its own.

He said it is important for members to form partnerships with other organisations to make it easier to get funding. ENDS
