Maun welcomes Naletsana

Maun residents and student netball players gathered in large numbers at the main kgotla to see the netball trophy tour.
Netball World Youth Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) representative, Patrick Tlotleng urged the Maun community and Batswana to support the U-21 national netball team on July 8.
He noted that the country was in group C with countries such as Jamaica, Uganda, Malaysia and Cook Islands.
He said rallying behind the national team would motivate them.
He called on the Maun community to contribute to the world cup games, and to support their national team during the games.
“We are thankful for your warm welcome although we are in deep grief for our former second president, but we put our hope on God since he is our only comforter during these hard times,” he said.
For his part, international boxer, Lesley Sekotswe commended the organising committee for bringing the trophy to Maun.
Sekotswe said the tour would encourage and inspire young people in various parts of the country to play for the national team and appreciate that sport could take them to greater heights in life.
He said the country would once again experience the Vision 2016 pillar of a ‘united and proud nation’ after the country’s golden jubilee celebrations.
Sekotswe further said Botswana would once again become the beacon of successful hosting through support from government and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development and private companies.
“To our national team, the ball is in your court, therefore go out there and show them what you are made of, and have fun,” he said.
He also commended the local organising team for the gesture. ENDS
