The Bobirwa Show Football Tournament will commence in Bobonong on July 1.

A member of the entertainment show committee, Albert Madome said 12 football teams from Bobirwa would battle it out for position one at the end of the tournament on August 5.

He said Botswana Football Association (BFA) affiliated teams from Bobonong such as Stone Breakers and Peace Makers would lock horns with constituency football teams.

Madome explained that in the previous years, Stone Breakers and Peace Makers were the only teams participating at the Bobirwa show tourney.

But with the aim of unearthing talent and bringing more people to the show ground, they decided to include Bobirwa constituency teams to the show spectacular.

He narrated that the tournament would be opened for everyone to take part, including schools.

“All those who are willing to participate must register with the show committee prior to the tournament,” he said.

He explained that each team would be allowed to register 22 players as well as three officials.

Madome said players would be required to produce either their identity card or birth certificate before the matches kicks off.

He added that alcohol and drugs would be prohibited at the games and at the show ground.

Madome explained that in the previous tournament, there were issues of misconduct among supporters, adding that some supporters were reported to have used uncouth words on referees. ENDS
