Teams ready to do battle

Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) men and women senior teams will be competing in Maputo, Mozambique, for Africa Nation Championships qualifiers scheduled for July 1-2.

The qualified women’s team will compete at Cameron on October 5-10 while men’s team will compete at Egypt October 10-20 in which top three winners will represent Africa at World Championships.

Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) CEO, Tuelo Serufho said he was pleased to hand over the national flag to both men and women teams that would ably represent the country at the qualifiers.

Serufho encouraged athletes to behave in a manner that Batswana would be proud of .

He emphasised team work stating that victory was a result of different elements of a team working together.

BVF president, Daniel Moalosi encouraged young players who just joined the teams that participating in qualifiers was not an end in itself but rather a beginning of great things to be achieved.

Moalosi further said athletes should take keen interest in knowing what their competitors were doing.

“We may not be professionals but we can learn few things in them,” he said.

He encouraged them to always wear national colours and stay disciplined.

Botswana National Sport Council (BNSC) sport development manager, Elsie Kenosi said athletes should know that they awee the best because they were playing the best from participating countries.

Kenosi encouraged Team Botswana to work as a team by supporting each other advising them that they shared the outcome of the game, whether in loss or in victory. ENDS
