Mokgware allays Gabane roads fears

The anticipated construction of the Gabane internal roads project will eventually commence as expected, says Gabane\Mmankgodi legislator, Major General Pius Mokgware.
Although conceding that there have been delays with regard to the project commencement, Maj. Gen. Mokgware said the constructor would soon be given a green light to start the project.
The area MP told Gabane resident during a kgotla meeting recently that the project had to delay as there were other contractors who questioned the tender, but that had been sorted.
He said service providers who would be affected by the project had already been paid, adding that compensation for residents was also ongoing.
“About 237 people will be affected and only 83 of those have been paid while 17 will be permanently relocated,” he said.
The legislator explained that plots for those who would be relocated to pave way for the developments have already been identified.
However, he said there were those who were still not satisfied with the compensation amount and their matter was still being handled.
Maj. Gen. Mokgware said they had requested that those relocated should only be given their money after they had been issued with new plots to avoid a situation where some would use the money and fail to construct their new homes.
“Government wants to have completed the compensation exercise by August,” Maj Gen Mokgware stated.
Nonetheless, Maj. Gen. Mokgware regretted that they had noted with concern cases of fighting for plot ownership.
On other issues of development, Maj. Gen. Mokgware stated that the construction of the staff houses under ESP in the village was progressing well and the project had employed 20 locals.
He further said from the P10 million constituency fund, it had been agreed that each ward would benefit P1 million.
Among other projects that would be constructed in the wards include kgotla shelters, paving, culverts construction, brick-moulding projects and tower lights.
He pleaded with the residents to support the projects and appealed to them to volunteer labour so that much would be achieved.
Earlier when welcoming MP, Kgosi Seeletso Pule of Gabane complained about noise coming from some churches and bars.
He said the noise made it difficult for residents to go on with their daily life activities.
Kgosi Pule said people would want to sleep, rest or read, but their efforts were made difficult by bars and churches, hence he pleaded with churches and bars to reduce noise.
For their part, most residents complained about Mogoditshane Sub-land Board, saying it was failing them. ENDS
