26 Jun 2017
Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya says government is committed to providing quality education in all primary schools across the country.
Speaking during the victory celebration for 2016 PSLE results at Boipuso Primary School in Palapye recently, Mr Goya said despite all the challenges affecting basic education, government would always ensure the betterment of quality education.
He said excellence in education could be achieved through hardwork, commitment, dedication, strong leadership and teamwork involving pupils and teachers.
He added that the essence of quality education lied on the responsibility of pupils, teachers and parents, hence the tripartite philosophy was encouraged in basic education.
He stated that the obligation of the Ministry of Basic Education was to find ways of improving education and providing programmes that schools must adhere to such as the Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan (ETSSP) which was designed to enhance quality education.
He commended Boipuso Primary School for sailing through in the right path of assisting government in achieving quality education.
He applauded the leadership, staff as well as pupils of the primary school for achieving good academic performance in the 2016 PSLE results, and encouraged them to keep the spirit of hardwork and results orientated.
Mr Goya, who is also the MP for Palapye, commended the school head, Mr Jacob Tshipo for producing desirable results throughout his 25 years of service in academics, noting that he transformed the performance of Letlhakane Primary School from position 19 to position one in the Boteti region in just two years as school head.
He described him as a knowledgeable and visionary leader who government would forever cherish.
He said it was through Mr Tshipo’s dedication and teamwork that his co-workers achieved great results by adding 29 per cent to the 2015 PSLE results and scoring 85.8 per cent.
The school attained position one out of eight primary schools in Palapye constituency and obtained position seven out of 37 primary schools in the Palapye Sub-region.
He encouraged pupils to work hard to realise their career dreams, noting that the future of the country lied on them.
He urged them to refrain from bad practices and focus on education for them to grow, develop and be prosperous.
Furthermore, Mr Goya said education was the primary tool relevant for economic diversification of the country and curbing abject poverty the country was facing.
For his part, Mr Tshipo said parental support was minimal and urged parents to contribute in their children’s academic work.
He said despite achieving outstanding results in the 2016 PSLE results, shortage of classrooms, laboratory and staff houses were challenges that disturbed the teaching and learning process. ENDS
