North team readies for finals

Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) karate coordinator north, Lesedi Khachana has declared his zone’s readiness for the national finals billed for Gaborone on July 6-8. 

Interviewed at the zone’s elimination and team selection tournament in Francistown on June 22, Khachana explained that the ‘Great North’ was in the process of selecting a team of 60 to represent them in individual and team events for Kata and Kumite events.

She said the pool of players would include males and females from junior and senior secondary schools.  Khachana also said they hasd selected eight karatekas, four girls and four boys to represent them in the senior category for Kumite events.

Chobe JSS scooped position one with Goldmine emerging as runners-up in the junior girls Kata during the northern zone finals held on Saturday. Setlalekgosi settled for the third position.

Chobe topped the tables again in junior boys Kata followed by Donga junior school, while Francistown Senior Secondary School’s  Titus Ponatshego was winner of the senior individual boys Kata with Mogomotsi Monare of Nata came second.

Gomolemo Kgosiemang of Letlhakane senior scooped position one followed by Tshegofatso Thata of Mater Spe in the senior individual girls Kata. ENDS
