The Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs has donated football and netball kits to Leshibitse Primary School.

Handing over the donation recently, permanent secretary in the ministry, Ms Banny Molosiwa said they were sent by Minister Edwin Batshu to fulfil the promise he made during a school visit some few weeks ago.

She said they came to build a relationship with the school and during the interactions they decided to donate football and netball kits to the school teams.

Ms Molosiwa said the donation aimed at encouraging students to participate in sports for the identification of their talents which are needed to be nurtured.

She said through commitment they could end up playing for senior national teams.

During that visit, she said they also promised to pave the school assembly area if the school attains a 100 per cent pass mark in the examinations.

Ms Molosiwa promised that they would come back to donate school shoes to the students before the end of winter to cushion them from harsh climatic conditions.

In her welcome remarks, the new school head Ms Thandiwe Phirinyane appreciated the gift, saying it solidifies a relationship that would go a long way in benefiting the students.

She said sport has proved to be a means of livelihood, hence the need for students to take it seriously.

Ms Phirinyane said the kits would help nurture their talents going forward, adding that the school would work hard so as not to disappoint.

Giving a vote of thanks, Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson, Mr Milton Dikgale emphasised the need the importance of nurturing talent from a young age, saying it gives students an upper hand in sport.

Mr Dikgale encouraged parents to support their children and give them a chance to practice sport. BOPA
