Ministry closes tourism operator
13 Jun 2017
Investigations by the Department of Tourism have revealed that World Link Travel and Tours has been operating without a license.
The company has been instructed to close its operations with immediate effect.
A press statement from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism (MENT), says the company, which has been operating from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) building, was not licensed to operate as a tourism operator or travel agency in Botswana.
“The illegality of the operations of this company at SADC has also been communicated to SADC,” the statement says.
The release says the ministry has cautioned and advised all tourism operators who might be operating illegally to cease operations with immediate effect and to follow the necessary process to legalise their operations as illegal acts are punishable by law. ENDS
