Maun senior students show leadership skills

Maun Senior Secondary School student leadership has been commended for demonstrating love, care and compassion as they donated food hampers, toiletry and money to Ms Grace Semausu of Chanoga recently.
Maun Administrative Authority deputy chairperson, Mr Vepaune Moreti described the gesture as a sign of good leadership style adding that the donation would bring a difference in the life of the beneficiary.
Mr Moreti said the students had proven that indeed quality leadership went with responsibility and acceptable manner adding that as a leader, one had to develop a passion to donate and impact positively on the lives of others.
“Leadership is all about what you do. It is all about observable set of skills and abilities that are useful where you are and you proved that indeed you are great leaders of tomorrow,” he added.
Furthermore, Mr Moreti informed students that they should consider themselves lucky to be leaders amongst other students adding they were elected because of the good qualities they displayed.
He urged them to uphold the good spirit, morals, and take their studies seriously as they would drive them to go higher places and eventually hold high positions in the government system.
To school management, he praised them for moulding students to be responsible citizens as they were the leaders of tomorrow.
“You have sown a seed which you would be proud of in the future,” he added.
Kgosi Oateng Setlhodi said it was the country’s tradition to extend a helping hand to others in order to show care and love and hailed the school for upholding the tradition.
He said even the Bible encouraged people to love one another and noted that what the students did was a blessing to the elderly mother and to themselves.
The school head, Ms Selebatso Modisaemang said as management, they were proud of what the student leadership did as they came up with the idea to donate without teachers’ input.
She said they raised funds through different activities as they were determined to achieve their dream of making a positive impact on someone’s life.
It was reported that students agreed to choose a beneficiary at Chanoga to show an appreciation to the village chief, Kgosi Setlhodi who is said to be supportive to school activities.
It was reported that Kgosi Setlhodi volunteered to impart knowledge and information on leadership skills to the students.
“Since we have been enjoying a good relationship with kgosi, our students found it fit to thank him by donating to one of his village elderly,” Ms Modisaemang added.
One of the teachers, Mr Thatayaone Tebogo explained that the students said they were inspired by President Lt. Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama who always donated to communities to restore dignity.
He appreciated the good work done by students noting that they indeed responded positively to the President’s plea to assist the needy society.
On behalf of the beneficiary, the granddaughter, Ms Olorato Semausu thanked the village leadership, school management and students for the good gesture.
She urged them to continue with the good spirit noting that God would bless them in every activity they carred out. ENDS
