The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has hailed the Mabaila Foundation for its support in the development of the Mogoditshane community.
Officially handing over P50 000 worth of community projects and goods to the Mogoditshane community on Friday, Mr Tsogwane expressed happiness at the foundation’s role in developing the village.
The projects included cleaning the cemetery and refurbishment of the fence, fencing a yard for an elderly woman populary known as Mma Grace at Smodern ward, a computer for the main kgotla, 300 face towels for Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School students and another 300 for the main kgotla.
The face towels given to the kgotla would benefit the community while those donated to Mogoditshane senior would be distributed among boarding students.
The minister noted that the foundation’s choice of beneficiaries focused on key areas of society which included caring for the elderly, upkeep of the village cemetery, care for the children as well as support for traditional leadership.
He noted that learning was a process that required the parents’ participation, adding that teachers go the extra mile in executing their duties and challenged students to take responsibility of their studies and work hard to get better results.
He urged Mogoditshane youth to draw inspiration from the foundation run by a youthful leader, and to emulate the initiative geared at assisting those in need, not only in Mogoditshane, but also in other areas.
Mr Tsogwane, who is the Member of Parliament for Boteti West, challenged the founder to remain focused and ensure the foundation achieved its intended goal of benefiting and improving the Mogoditshane community.
“Let us ensure a joint responsibility that government lead with support of the private sector. If we are united and proud, we will indeed reach higher levels of development,” stated Minister Tsogwane.
The president and founder of Mabaila Foundation, Mr Tshepang Mabaila assured the Mogoditshane community of his support to the needs of the village driven by the passion of developing the status of the village.
The paving of a five kilometre road from Sefalana in Mogoditshane passing through Block Nine to join the Molepolole road at an estimated cost of P350 000 is planned to start in June.
Kgosi Afred Dihutso challenged the community to maintain the improved status of the village cemetery so as to encourage the foundation to bring more assistance.
The cemetery, he said, was in a bad state, untidy with a loose fence that prompted trespassing without according the sacred place the status it deserved.
Mogoditshane Member of Parliament, Mr Sedirwa Kgoroba welcomed the foundation’s efforts in developing the constituency.
The MP requested that the donations be used appropriately, and appealed to those with planning skills to help in the demarcation of the newly allocated cemetery for ease of access. ENDS
