Maun Hospitality Trade Expo has attracted about 180 exhibitors mainly from the tourism sector, says the chief organiser, Mr Louis Milne.
In an interview after a successful two day event held at Matshwane English Medium School, Mr Milne said he was happy that the event was a success as compared to the previous one where a less than 100 business people took part.
He said the large number of exhibitors was an indication that the event was growing in leaps and bounds and that the exhibitors appreciate the trade expo.
The event aimed to provide all businesses in Ngamiland especially those in the tourism and hospitality sector a platform to showcase their products, network with other businesses and also interact with their customers.
Mr Milne said they started the trade expo after realising that ‘there are many small emerging businesses around which need exposure.’
“We wanted them to utilise this opportunity and market their services and products. They would also know where to go if they want to promote new products or services,” he added.
Going forward, the organisers indicated that they would expand to areas such as Ghanzi and Kasane.
However, most of the exhibitors hailed organisers for a job well done, and appreciated that the event had grown and attracted many exhibitors and the general public.
One of the exhibitors from CA Sales and Distribution Company, Mr Linga Bakopi observed that the event was a welcome development in the right direction as it gave them a chance to mingle with their customers and get feedback on their products.
He said they managed to introduce their new products to the public and “I am very impressed as our clients indeed welcomed our products and now they know where to get them.”
The managing director of Beef Boys Meat Market, Mr Schalk Pretorius said the event gave the local industry an exposure adding that they were happy with the positive respond from the public.
He hoped that their businesses would grow bigger going forward as they would enjoy a lot of business.
Beef Boys supply meat and cheese products.
Mr Christopher Motsie of Health Generation Company based in Gaborone, also appreciated the event noting that they marketed their products well.
The company manufactures 100 per cent fresh juices extracted from wheat grass.
He said the juices are good for hangover and expressed happiness that the public welcomed the products.
Mr Motsie also noted that they intend to open a branch in Maun.
The next trade expo will be in 2019. ENDS
