Gospel music artist, Tefo Phiri believes in the powers of the All Mighty, hence releasing an album dubbed Tsela e le thata, loosely translated as 'when the going gets tough'.
He is convinced that God gave him talent of singing, which earned him a house hold name in the gospel music scene. In an interview, the musician said the Tsele la ele thata tittle came about when he realised that there were some situations in life, which only needed divine intervention.
Therefore, he wanted to advice people to always pray when in difficult situations as there was nothing impossible with God. Phiri grew up in Assemblies of God church where he learnt about music until he became an established artist.
Before releasing his first album, Morena o ba etele, Phiri was in the church's praise and worship team, where he played keyboards and drums. The God-fearing artist also gained experience while working with one of the local gospel pioneers, Mmereki Marakakgoro who used to engage him at his live performances.
Phiri advised aspiring musicians that when they come into music industry, they should be original and come up with their own brands that could be appreciated by people.
The producer and song writer noted that people should not do gospel just because they envy other artists but should be passionate about it. “People should not duplicate other people’s works, gospel music is all about passion, it should emanate from your heart,” said Phiri.
Tsela e le thata is a 10-track album with songs such as Modimo yo Mogolo, Father in Heaven, Emmanuel mong wa rona, Lion of Judah, Lenyalo, Jesus is mine, Bonang ho hlahile marung, Ha le mpotsa Tshepo and Tsela e le thata instrumental.ENDS
