Mascom gives BONA boost

Mascom Wireless has sponsored Botswana Netball Association (BONA) to the tune of P500 000 for hosting the Netball World Youth Cup (NWYC) scheduled for July in which 19 countries will participate.
Speaking at the sponsorship launch, Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Kefentse Mzwinila said Mascom sponsorship was a sign that companies are starting to realise a dream that Botswana has been recognised as the best host country in Africa.
Mzwinila noted that P400 000 would be in cash and P100 000 in the form of communications support to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to help with preparations.
The assistant minister appreciated support offered by Mascom Wireless for ensuring a successful World Cup.
“The ministry cannot thank sponsors enough because without their support, we might disappoint the netball lovers who are looking forward to these games,” he added.
He further said cash from Mascom Wireless would provide better chances, of not only winning the cup, but staging a spectacular Netball World Youth Cup.
He promised that the ministry, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) and the LOC would ensure accountability of all funds at the end of games.
“At the end of the games, every thebe will be accounted for in order to continue building the trust and great working relations that your company enjoys with other sporting codes,” he said.
Mzwinila congratulated BONA and urged other organisations to learn from Mascom Wirelss and support various sporting codes.
Mascom chief operations officer, (COO), Dzene Seboni said Botswana was about to make history by hosting the first World Netball Cup in Africa.
Seboni commended BONA for seeking sponsorship from Mascom, adding that they were privileged to have offered support to Mascom Top 8, Mascom Derby and Mascom Cycle Race. ENDS
