Global youth motivates Francistown youth

01 May 2017

The Global Youth Initiative recently organised a session for Francistown youth to motivate, guide and encourage them about life.

Speaking during the occasion, coach, speaker and founder of Leadership Nurturing, Ms Hannah Lecha said the organisation was passionate about the lives of young people as they faced many challenges while at school.

She said the organisation’s objective was to train the youth to become better citizens of tomorrow.

She said her mission was to show them how they could confront challenges which they faced by focusing on the crucial ones.

“We need to talk about challenges like discipline, insecurity, confidence building and fear of failure as we consider them to be a priority,” said Ms Hannah.

She encouraged students to study hard so that they could have a better future and stop being a burden to their parents.

She encouraged them to resist being bullied by their age mates.

On other issues, she explained that building self confidence was important because young people would not be afraid to ask for help from other students whenever they did not understand.

A youth activist in Maun, Ms Thabang Mpho said she was one of the youth who faced many challenges which were also affecting other young people.

She encouraged the youth to avoid bad company which encouraged them to do bad things during study time.

She said they should not always allow their parents to control their lives, especially on matters that might result in them being abused.

Mr Atlarelang Sebele, a youth activist from Francistown, highlighted that discipline was the most important trait in the lives of young people. This, he noted, resulted in young people earning respect from other people.

He also said because of their belief that it was wise to mould young people at an early age, hence the decision to include pupils from Standard One to Standard Seven in their events.

“This is to make them grow up with awareness on some of the challenges they face such as bullying which they experience at an early age,” he said. ENDS
