We want to maintain status- Gunners gaffer
17 Apr 2017
The new Extension Gunners coach, Itumeleng Duiker is optimistic that his boys will fight with all they have to maintain their status in the elite BTC Premiership League.
He said this after they played to a two all draw with Sankoyo Bush Bucks at Maun Sports Complex. He said currently their focus was to maintain the club status.
The club stands in position four in the log and recently it parted ways with its head coach, Chico Nare and Duiker took over.
Duiker appreciated his boys’ performance noting that fatigue contributed a lot to their draw as they arrived early in the morning for their evening encounter.
It was the host who scored first on the eighth second of the game, as the Ngurungu’s first pass from the centre found Oabile ‘Shumba’ Bathusi in a dangerous position and took a good shot which went into the net.
Analysts say Ngurungu coach Drago Stanlojovic came up with the best line up ever as the Gunners dangerous middle fielder, Ofentse Mmipi was closed down hence the boys took control of the first half.
Ngurungu skillful middle fielder, Kabo ‘Fire’ Matlhare played a big role as he was all over the pitch, giving his opponents hard time. He distributed the ball well to other players but it was not their day despite their beautiful moves.
Gunners came to the party after recess as they managed to produce two goals through corner kicks. Moathodi Ralesotha became the hero to score a brace in the second half, beating Kabelo Kuti on Sankoyo posts with well-taken shots.
Sankoyo managed to equalise in the dying minutes through a well taken corner kick. Bobby Ntshegisang brought happiness to the local supporters
For his part, Stanlojovic commended his boys for a job well done in the first half but expressed frustration that after break the boys were too relaxed. BOPA
