Comets coach rues missed chances

Jwaneng Comets wasted numerous goal scoring opportunities and drew 1-1 with FC Satmos in the first leg of the promotional play-offs in Jwaneng on Saturday.
The winner of the tie would fill the final slot in the be Mobile Premier League for the 2013/14 season. Therefore, the second leg slated for in Selebi Phikwe on Saturday (June 22) would be a do or die affair.
Comets coach, Kelebogile ‘Yster’ Seamokwena, though happy with his team’s performance, felt his charges missed a glaring opportunity in front of their supporters by wasting inviting chances. He, however, said their pursuit for promotion was not shattered and they would be taking a fight to FC Satmos in the second leg.
The good thing, according to the coach, was that they observed the tactics that Satmos used and would come up with a strategy to defeat them.
Comets’ dream of gaining automatic promotion to the premier league was shattered when Wonder Sporting Club piped them to the first division south championship towards the end of the season, leaving them to go through the play-offs route.
Satmos coach, Mooketsi ‘China’ Mading said his team was not well prepared for the match because they had just finished playing difficult league games, but sounded more optimistic ahead of the Saturday clash.
“Our opponents were maybe ready for the game unlike us, but the games we’ve been playing gave the boys physical fitness,” he said. The weekend match started on a low note under chilly conditions but the hosts took the lead through a Goareng Supang strike in the 26th minute.
Satmos reacted by putting pressure on Comets and came close to equalising through efforts by Mogakolodi Balatotse and Katlego Mpoeleng. The visitors equalised through a free kick midway in the first half and overall dominated the match in the second half. ENDS
