No plans for Mahalapye rehabilitation centre
09 Apr 2017
Ministry of Health and Wellness has no plans to construct a rehabilitation centre in the Mahalapye Sub-district.
This was said by the Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele in response to a parliamentary question on April 6.
Mr Makgalemele said the Mahalapye Hospice was under the ownership of the Mahalapye Based Care Group and not under his ministry.
He noted that there was a Non-Governmental Organisation in Mahalapye, a rehabilitation centre that was supported by government through his ministry and it provided rehabilitation services.
Mr Makgalemele was responding to a question from Mahalapye West MP, Mr Joseph Molefe.
MP Molefe had asked the minister if he was aware that there was no rehabilitation centre in Mahalapye and if so, when the centre would be constructed to service the Sub-district and why the hospice hospital building could not be utilised for the same as it had not been used for the past 10 years.
