Kgautlhe determined to make living in art

Mr Bonolo Kgautlhe is a determined, self-driven and passionate youth who travels the country to market his skill of art.

Having completed his studies up to junior certificate level in 2003 and with no qualification to help him get a job, he met a Zimbabwean friend who taught him everything about tapestry; some form of textile art.

For mr Kgautlhe, who has done art during his school days, getting tutorial from his friend was a walk in the park. With this form of textile art, he makes doormats, toilet seat covers, shoe decorations and also takes special designs from his customers.

Aged 31, he said he does most of his trade in areas like Kasane taking advantage of the place for being the heart of tourism. He said sometimes he visits different villages as per request of clients.

He also sells equipment used for making tapestry, teach and encourage people who admire what he does to learn and design what they like on their own.

He said given the high unemployment rate, it was wise for youth to get engaged in different forms of art and use it as a tool to pass boredom.

Giving his testimony, he said talent together with hard work and perseverance brings out the best results.

He said reasons for travelling a lot was to beat the spirit of failure and self-questioning he sometimes find himself in. ENDS
